Car Regulations
1. Car: Only rear wheel drive, passenger sedans and
station wagons are allowed. No pickups, panel trucks, four-wheel
drives, convertibles or hearses. Car must be stock-style in steering, frame,
and suspension (aftermarket upper A-frames are acceptable). Cars must
have a minimum wheelbase of 106 inches.
2. Car Numbers: Car numbers must be
painted on both front car doors and on top of the car, in neat 18 in. or larger
numbers. The number on top of the car
will face the infield judges stand so the Judges can see it plainly. A 4-inch. number will be required on the rear
of the car, to be visible to the drivers behind you in the line-up. Numbers are to be painted in a color contrasting
with the color of the car. No advertising on the front doors. No profanity
will be painted on the car.
3. Roll Cage: Cars must have a
minimum 4-point roll cage and it must be sufficiently constructed as to support
the weight of the car over the driver. X-bracing behind the driver and gussets
at all major pipe intersections are required. The main parts of the cage (halo,
uprights, X-bracing, and door bars) will have a 1 3/4" O.D. minimum. Roll cage must include a minimum of 3
horizontal door- bars. These bars must be flared outward into the door panels.
There should also be a minimum of 3 vertical support bars in each door
support. These supports should be
staggered through out the door and not in a straight line. Three support bars should extend from the
bottom door bar to the frame on driver’s
side and one support bar on passenger side. The usage of a 2&1/2' X 2' steel plate, with a minimum thickness of
1/8", welded to the outside of the driver door bars, but under the door
skin. Plate not to exceed the dimensions of the drivers door.
4. Racing Harness: A 5-point
racing harness is required. Seat and harness must be attached to the roll cage securely (per manufacturer’s
instructions). Racing harness may be used no more than 5 years from the date
printed on the belts.
5. Engine
Mounts: Chaining and welding are
permitted. Motor must be in the front
1/3 of the vehicle.
6. Windows
& Glass: All windows, headlights,
antennas, outside mirrors, and tail lights must be removed. All cars must have an operational, and clearly visible, red brake light
(Minimum 3” in diameter) in the rear window. All side windows (except driver's
window net) must remain uncovered
7. Window
Net & Screens: A racing window
net (ribbon or net) is required on the driver's side window. The mandatory
location of the release mechanism will be on the top portion of the A-pillar. Screens must be on the windshield
ahead of the driver. Screen should be
1/2” X 1/2” maximum hole. Two 3/8-inch support rods should be in front of
driver with a 12-inch gap between them, centered by the steering wheel. 1/3 of the front windshield must be left open
or the entire windshield may be covered with a 12 x 12 in. hole cut in the
screen to allow easy access to the toggle switch. Sharp edges should be removed or
covered.
8. Ignition Switch: An approved, clearly visible, and
brightly painted switch, placed up and to the right of the steering wheel and clearly
marked “On/ Off”, must be wired to the ignition system such that the engine
shuts off easily. If that switch is not easily accessible from the passengers
side, a second switch that is easily reached from outside is required and must
be an approved switch.

10. Doors: Doors must be welded or chained shut. See rule
#3 "Roll Cages" for further door details.
11. Hood: Hood must be in place and have a minimum 12
inch diameter hole cut for fire
extinguisher hole. Air cleaners should
not obstruct the fire hole. Car hood must be fastened appropriately.
12. Exhaust
System: Rear exit, stock cast-iron
exhaust manifolds are required. No ram style or center dump manifolds are
allowed. Exhaust pipes should extend
down to the bottom edge of the frame rails but not below or under. Longer pipes
are optional, but must be properly secured. No H, X, or Y-Pipes allowed. A maximum of 2 ½” exhaust pipe is
allowed.
13. Fuel
System: Tank: The gas tank must be
an approved container (fuel cells in a metal box are recommended, stock tanks are not acceptable). The
gas tank must be placed in the trunk. There must be an adequate metal firewall
behind the rear seat. There must be a minimum 5" drain hole cut in the
bottom of the trunk. The gas tank must be properly secured and reinforced (as
to prevent fuel spillage resulting from collision). Tank must have a vent tube
with working 2 way check valve. Lines:
Stock steel or braided fuel lines
must be used beneath the car, and may not enter driver compartment. Pump:
No electric fuel pumps allowed. Fuel:
No more than 20% alcohol.
14. Cooling
System: Radiator: Only one radiator will be allowed, and it must
remain in the stock position. No
reinforcing ahead of the front plane of the radiator for the entire width of
the car. Light channel iron or angle
iron may be used along side of the radiator as to support the radiator
only. Reinforcing of these supports may
cause disqualification of the car. Only window screening will be allowed in
front of the whole radiator to protect it from debris. Tin will only be allowed around headlight
area. no tin or any other covering will
be allowed inside the engine area around the radiator area as to prevent
officials from seeing front-end bracing. Transmission
Coolers: Tranny coolers must be mounted in front of the radiator. Steel
lines or approved hydraulic hose must be used with no more than 12" of
rubber line. Rubber line may only be used to fasten cooler to steel lines.
15. Bumpers: Stock style only. Bumpers must be attached securely and may not
be raised or lowered or flipped upside down from stock position. Bumper ends must be bent inward and any loose
metal removed. Bumper supports shall not be longer than 6" (measured from
frame horn to back of bumper). Bumpers
may have absolutely no additional bracing aside from the two bumper
supports. A maximum of 3/8” metal may be
used for bumper supports. Bumpers may not attach to the front fenders or any
other front end sheet metal. Bumper safety chains are required. 16.
Bracing: Bracing in engine compartment that is
parallel to the frame along fender structures must not be greater than a 2 inch
pipe. Bracing larger than this will not
be allowed. This bracing must not break the plane of the radiator. This bracing must not attach to the roll cage
or run completely through the car. There
should be a 2” gap between the firewall and any support bracing. This bracing
is allowed only to support fender structures. No fender flares will be allowed
by the front wheels. Cars should be
stock in appearance in front fenders. If
door panels must be flared to accommodate the support bars of cage then that
width must be maintained until reaching the rear bumper. Up to 1” X 2” rub rails may be used. Must be of a hollow tubing variety, and
securely fastened.
17.
Tires: Only IMCA approved, or stock passenger car
style tires are allowed No recap tires. All tires must have lug nuts present and
tight. One-inch lug nuts are required. Remove wheel weights.
18. Fenders: All cars must have front fenders to start
the night.
19. Brakes: Front and rear brakes must be
operational.
20. Differential: Only rear ends from stock passenger cars
will be allowed. No pickup rear
ends.
21. Cars must have
the front 1/3 of the vehicle painted in a light or bright color. White, yellows, light or neon greens, oranges,
and bright reds are acceptable choices.
22. Drive
Shaft: Must be completely painted
white, and a drive shaft loop is required on the front 1/3 of the shaft.
23. Fire
Wall: Firewall must be in stock
position. If not a stock firewall, it
must pass an official inspection.
24. Sheet
metal: All cars will have stock
sheet metal or the replacement there of with metal 20- gauge thickness or less.
25. Seats: Seats must be fastened securely directly to
the roll cage, with use of an aluminum racing seat being recommended.
26. In
Car Communication: No electronic communications will be
allowed in the cars.
27. Floor
Pans: Floor pans must be stock style
(no cock-pitting). If using a fabricated floor pan, it must not extend higher
than the stock transmission tunnel anywhere in the driver's compartment, and
must pass an Official's inspection.
3. Once a car comes onto the track it will not be allowed to pit and return.
4. If a car fails to show for its heat or feature, the officials will move the cars directly behind the missing vehicle straight ahead during line-up.
5. Inside front row will be considered as the pole position.
6. In case of a Red Flag, STOP! Judges will arrange a restart with lapped cars being placed in the rear of the line up. All running cars will be allowed to continue the race. If a car has an accident while trying to stop for a red flag, judges will determine if it will be allowed to restart the race. The car for which the red flag was thrown may race if it can get moving again under its own power. The car for which the red flag was thrown may be placed at the back of the pack during the restart. The leader in front at a restart will have his choice of inside or outside front row.
7. If any car is not moving at a red flag it
will have to re-fire before it’s pushed off the track.
8. If a red flag occurs with 4 laps or less
remaining in the race, the officials may line-up a restart in single file. This will not occur if there are more than 6
cars remaining in the race

In case of a red flag during the last lap, there will be no
restart. The checkered flag will go to
the car that was ahead after the last fully completed lap unless the red flag
was thrown for the leader. The leader
and the rest of the field’s finish will be dependent upon who was at fault for
the red flag.
10. If a “dead” is considered to be in a
dangerous position during the race, it will be removed before the race
continues. If the car re-fires before being pushed off, the car may start at
the rear of the field, a second infraction will result in disqualification.
11. Cars must have a forward gear when pulling onto the track. If you should lose your forward gears during the race, you may complete no more than one lap in Reverse.
12. Southbound cars have the right of way. Anyone who hits a southbound vehicle, or obviously makes a southbound vehicle yield, will be black-flagged.
13. Anyone pushing or hitting another car intentionally and/or not trying to place high in the race will be black-flagged. Bang boarding is not allowed. No team driving. No sandbagging.
14. Any car having a door open, hood or trunk up, or significant metal dragging will automatically be black-flagged. There will be an automatic black flag for any car who has lost its front bumper, or whose bumper is dragging or swinging out away from the car. If upon collision the hood is buckled to where the driver’s vision is hindered the car may be black-flagged. If a cars window net falls down, the race will be red flagged, and that driver will be placed at the rear of the field. A second infraction will result in disqualification.
15. There will be an automatic red flag for any debris on the track. Any car dropping debris on the track will be placed at the rear of the field or black-flagged.
16. Any car not on time for its race may be placed at the back of the pack.
17. Slower cars stay to the inside. Slow cars still moving after the winner has received the checkered flag need not finish total laps to place.
18. During a race or red flag, drivers may not get out of their cars, except in case of a fire or emergency.
19. If you go off the track, you may not return or drive back on. If your car is high-centered, on its lid or side, and is incapacitated; you will be disqualified.
20. Any car deemed to be on fire by an Official will be black flagged.
21. If a car should fail to come out for its heat, it may come out in the first feature at the rear of the field.
22. If a car comes to the second race of the season or later, that car will be assigned to the back of the pack of the first or second heat.
23. If a driver incurs a flat on the front of their car, that driver shall keep their car to the bottom of the track when cornering and the flat tire is facing the crowd. Throwing mud into the crowd is grounds for a black flag.
24. Trophy Dash- Cars competing in the
Trophy Dash will be the top-ten
25. Tagging Up- Winners of the E, D, C, and B Features have the option of tagging up into the next Feature, in the final starting spot. Once the eligible car enters the pit, or returns to the track from the cool and fuel area, the decision is final. Cars will be allowed 2 minutes to be cooled and refueled ONLY! Cars will not be allowed to change tires. Only 3 members of the cars pit crew will be allowed by the car. Any driver choosing to tag up to the next Feature will lose the points earned in the previous Feature. The driver will be awarded 10 bonus points per feature tagged up into (20 bonus points maximum) whether they finish or not.
1. Inspection- Inspection Night is again mandatory, driver need not be present at this time.
2. Pits will open no more than 2 hours before race time, and close 1 hour after the last race of the night. All cars must be present 1 hour before the first race to be inspected. All cars must pass an official’s inspection before racing. Cars will be randomly checked through out the racing season.
3. Judges decisions will be FINAL! No decisions will be changed. No discussion will be held on the track.
4. Fighting will not be tolerated, any drivers or pit crew acting in an irresponsible manner will be subject to suspension for the remainder of the season or more. When a driver is suspended, that driver and number will not be allowed to race during the suspension. Any suspended person will not be allowed in the pits before, during, or after the races until the suspension is completed. Suspensions carry over from race to race and into the next season if necessary. A suspended person must leave pit area immediately or face further sanctions.
5. Drivers Safety Equipment- Fire Suits & Gloves: All drivers competing are required to wear a minimum of a single layer Proban or Nomex racing fire suit and equally protective racing gloves (no Mechanix Gloves). All drivers and pit crew are asked to wear light colored shirt for safety reasons in the pits. Helmets: Drivers must wear a racing, snowmobile or motorcycle helmet. Full-face helmets are recommended. Neck Rolls: Racing neck rolls are required.
6. Minimum Age: Drivers must be at least 16 years of age. Drivers under 18 years of age must have a consent form signed by one parent before an active Jaycee.
7. Pit crew and drivers must stay away from the fire department. When lining up for the next race, drivers must stay in their cars. No pit crew on the racetrack at any time. Keep road from track through pits open and clear at all times.
8. Prize money will be paid at the following race to the person to whom the car is registered on the entry form.
9. Any
driver with more than one car will not receive special scheduling.
10. Anyone may enter any number of cars, and anyone paid may drive them. However, only one car with the same number will be allowed to race per night. Car numbers may not be changed once the first race begins.
11. If you bring a cutting torch, you must have a Class B or C fire extinguisher with you.
12. No cars on the racetrack after the races have ended.
13. No limit to the number of cars that can register per year. The first night of racing all cars that are registered will be allowed to race. For all subsequent races only the top 72 cars will be allowed to race for that night. The top 72 cars will be determined by the previous points totals. Any car not placing in the top 72 will be allowed to race if one of the top 72 qualifiers is a no show. The top 72 qualifiers will have until 15 min. prior to the start of the 1st race to arrive at the track with their car. $10 per person to enter pits. Half of the pit money goes into the driver’s purse. Anyone that enters the pit or racetrack must sign the release form. No children under 15 are allowed in the pits.
14. Pay Points: will be considered as 18 or more points obtained in a single race. Points stay with the car, not the driver
15. If you should be the driver winning the trophy dash or A-feature, stop on the East side of the track and the Officials will tell you when to pull around.
16. Slower features (E, D, or C) may be combined if there are not enough car to run.
17. Fifteen dollars annual entry fee per car number. Entry fee will not be refunded. Make all checks payable to the Primghar Jaycees. Registration fee due no later than the first night of racing is required to preserve your number.
18. All racers will pit inside the pit gates. Once a car has entered the pits, it may not leave until the conclusion of that car’s races
19. Drivers must be signed in and have paid entry fee before driving in first heat of the night.
20. Packing the Track: Drivers will be informed of which night everyone will be required to help pack the track. Pit steward will make the determination regarding packing the track.
