There are three separate units, totaling 16 apartments, in Primghar. None are assisted-living facilities. The apartments are specifically for persons who are low-income, elderly, or handicapped. In times of a high number of vacancies, permission has been granted to rent to others not fitting the above specific user criteria. They are managed by a seven member board, part-time bookkeeper, and a caretaker. The program is under the auspices of the USDA (Department of Agriculture).
