NEED TO BE INCLUDED ON FAIR ENTRY FORM!

Judging Date: Tuesday, July 19th at the Primghar Community Center.

NOTE: Garments for the Clothing Event may be also used as a fair exhibit.

1200 - FASHION REVUE

4-H'er will model an outfit he/she has constructed, hand-knitted or crocheted during the club year. If a skirt, shorts or pants are constructed, a purchased top may be worn. Participants will be evaluated as follows: the individual (posture, poise, grooming), the outfit on the individual (style, fabric, and color becoming to the individual, pleasing accessories, appropriate under garments, outfit clean and neat), and construction as it affects appearance (fabric suitable to style of garment, quality of construction, fit appropriate findings-buttons, lining, well-pressed, etc.).

SPECIAL EVENT CRITERIA

All participants to qualify for the State Fashion Revue event should:

1. Have been enrolled in the clothing project.

2. Model a garment or outfit the entrant has constructed, hand-knitted, machine knitted or crocheted during the current 4-H year.

a) Garment or outfits consisting of one to three pieces such as party clothes, tailored suits, vest, slacks, skirt, active sportswear and /or coats are acceptable as Fashion Revue entries.

b) Blouses and sweaters are usually considered garments. If they are used under a coat or jacket for a touch of color at the neck (similar to a scarf) they may be made or selected.

c) All other accessories and undergarments may be made or selected.

1201 - CLOTHING SELECTION

4-H'er will model a purchased outfit that he/she has selected. Clothing may be new or used, selected for any occasion and need that the 4-H'er has. Gifts of

clothing ARE NOT ELIGIBLE. (Outfit must be purchased, since the purpose of the program is to help youth develop skills in buying clothing. Outfit means two or more pieces unless a dress is purchased.) Participants will be evaluated as follows: the individual (posture, poise, grooming), the outfit on the individual (becoming color, style, fabric, fit and appropriate accessories of the outfit, activity, and individual), the outfit for intended purposes (selection reflects understanding of fiber, fabric, design, construction, fit, warmth, comfort, etc.) and the money spent (amount justified careful consideration of member's needs).

SPECIAL EVENT CRITERIA

All participants to qualify for participation in the State Clothing Selection should:

1. Select and/or purchase an outfit that represents the 4-H'ers goals or intended use for the selected outfit.

2. Have had individual planned or county experience(s) in choosing shopping alternatives, evaluating fit, quality and construction features, price and cost comparison.

NOTE: Outfits may be selected and/or purchased from any source; including consignment shops used clothing stores, etc. Clothing items, which are home sewn, are not eligible unless the completed garment was purchased from a used clothing source. Clothing items, which are custom sewn specifically for the participant, are not eligible.
