WINTER REMINDERS

1) WINTER SNOW REMOVAL Residents are reminded there is to be NO PARKING on city streets from 2 A.M. to 6 A.M. between November 1st and March 31st per City Ordinance. This allows our employees to more efficiently remove snow.

2) SIDEWALK ORDINANCE Please remove snow and ice from your sidewalks within 24-hours to ensure safe passage of walking residents & school children. If the City receives a complaint the City will clear the sidewalks and assess your property. 3) RURAL MAIL DELIVERY IN TOWN Just a reminder that is the rural mailbox recipients responsibility to clear away any snow that should get piled up/around the mailbox post so the mail carrier can deliver the mail in a timely manner.

CHRISTMAS TREE PICKUP City employees will pick up Christmas trees on Monday, January 10th. Please place your treecurbsideby9:00AM.

"Thanks" goes out to all of you who dropped off goodies through out the year. They were very much appreciated by us all. Once again, Thank You!!!!!

CITY HALL CLOSED FOR CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS

City Hall will be closed on December 24th & 31st for the Christmas and New Years Holidays. If you have an emergency, please call City Hall (957-2435) and an on-call city employee will assist you.

JAYCEE EASTER EGG HUNT

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt is being held on Saturday, April 23rd at 1:00 pm at the Primghar EMS Building. Please bring your little ones through grade 4 to join in on the FUN!!

SPRING CLEANUP 2011

This is the 4th year the City has joined forces with Town & Country Disposal to pickup items placed along the curbside*. You are asked to have the items you wish too discard placed at your usual garbage pickup area by 6 a.m. on Friday May 20th. *See the enclosed flyer for disposal instructions.

JAYCEE SPRING SOCCER PROGRAM

Jaycee's Youth Soccer (grades K-6) is soon to start. The first game is scheduled to begin at 9am, Saturday, April 9, then continuing through May (except for Easter weekend).

Games are held at the City Park. Registration was due 3/18. If you have questions, please contact Joni Irwin, Becky Jacobs, or Danielle Sampson.

CITY SPONSORED THUNDER CATS SOCCER PROGRAM

The City of Primghar is again sponsoring the JH-HS Coed Soccer program. Practice begins on Monday, 4/6, at the City Park Soccer field and runs on Mondays and Thursdays, from 4-6pm.

PRIMGHAR NEEDS YOUR HELP

Primghar Emergency Medical Services is urgently seeking applications for First Responders and EMT's.

The Primghar Rec Center is also seeking a new Director of Operations.

LITTLE LEAGUE

Your child will be bringing home from school the registration information for Primghar Boys & Girls Little League. Primghar City Office will be accepting applications for throughout the day on March 31st and a volunteer will be available that evening at the Pizza Ranch from 6-8pm. We are still in need of volunteers for these programs and the concession stand.

If interested in helping to coaching, volunteer, assist at the concession stand, or, if you have any questions, please Call or stop by City Hall 957-2435 Your help is greatly appreciated!!

SPRING CLEAN-UP DAY

Curbside Spring Clean-up Day is scheduled for Friday, May 20th. Appliance charge is $15.00 (per item) and furniture charge of $5.00 (per item). Fees must be pre-paid at City Hall by May 18th. No appliance/furniture pick-uos without prepayment. Non-acceptable items: tires, batteries, car parts or *wet paint. The City of Primghar and Town & Country Disposal reserve the right to refuse all or partial pickups. Since this is also a normal garbage pickup day, please keep your regular garbage separated from your clean-up items. Please call City Hall if you have questions..

Spring Reminders.*,

Only branches, leaves and grass clippings are allowed at the City's dump site or in the dumpster behind the light plant. NO PLASTIC BAGS PLEASE! The City will pick up branches broken off during bad storms on Fridays. Please call City Hall by 3:00pm on Thursday to request pickup. Sawed off branches are prohibited.
Burning of yard debris inside city limits is allowed with extreme caution. Please be cautious of the permitting weather conditions, the location of you burn site , and your nearest water source.
Pool Passes are available for purchase at City Hall.
2011 Nuisance Abatement Project is set to begin June 1st Please see that your property is in compliance with the Primghar Code of Ordinances by said deadline. If you have any questions, please call City Hall 957-2435.

TRASH to TREASURE

The Primghar Community Building Board is planning a "Trash to Treasure" yard sale on May 20th-21st. If you have anything in a GOOD, CLEAN condition that you want to get rid of, you may donate your items Monday-Friday from 9am to Noon to the community building starting May 2nd. Call Rosemary @ 957-8015 for more information.

Community Garden Plots

If you're interested in having a garden but have no place to put one, here's your chance! The Primghar Care Center and the American Reformed Church have joined together to provide those interested with a sizable plot (for a small fee), located just north of the Care Center. Information and sign-up forms are available at City Hall, or, contact Daryl Haack @ 757-5625 with questions.

Project Share

This is a great time to do projects that will make your house more energy efficient during those hot summer months. Your less fortunate neighbor would like to be able to make those improvements, too. You can help through Project Share. Project Share (PS) is a plan created by your utility to assist needy households in making important, energy-saving improve-ments to their homes. You can add a regular PS contribution to your monthly utility payments or make a direct donation to PS. Your contribution is voluntary, flexible, and tax deductible. To participate, fill out the Provided insert and return it to the City of Primghar P.O. Box 39, Primghar, IA 51245 or drop off at City Hail.

FREE-TREE-PROGRAM

Residents may sign up to have 1 or 2 trees planted in their parking right-a-way sections. Call City Hall for more information. Deadline is June 1st.

SEND THE KIDS ROLLER SKATING

The Primghar Rec Center is officially OPEN! Skating is available on Saturdays afternoons from 1:30pm to 3:30pm and again from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Admission is only $2.00 per child. (If they go both times the evening price is discounted!)

The City of Primghar is sponsoring the Holiday Lighting* Contest. Judging will take place on Sunday, December 11th, after 7:00pm.

PRIMGHAR PROGRESS

Work to the City's transformer site has begun and will continue through the Thanksgiving Holiday, when delivery of the refurbished unit is expected. The base is being rebuilt/reset and disconnection/reconnection is anticipated to occur the week after Thanksgiving. More information will be given as the project nears completion, due to the City having to generate power during this time.

A Sincere Thanks and Farewell event for Mayor James Thompson will be held on Sunday, Dec.11th from 5-7pm at the Primghar Golf Course & Country Club. Mayor and Councilmember's elect will be sworn into office on Monday the 12th during Council's regular session.
