The City is governed by a City Council-Mayor. Additional bodies involved include The Primghar Advancement Corporation, Betterment Council, Chamber of Commerce, and Jaycees. Many other church, civic, and service organizations also help make living in Primghar a good choice.
An award winning golf course, Baum-Harmon Mercy Hospital, camping sites and community events are all available for residents and visitors. Events - Cobblestone Days, Figure 8 Races, Community Playhouse, and the County Fair - draw community and regional support.
